The Development and Testing of an Experimental Model Instructional Program for the Teaching of Biological Concepts, Using Single-Topic Films.

The aim of this study was to develop an instructional model for use with Biological Sciences Curriculum Study single-topic films which included clear identification and use of the rationale and expected behavioral outcomes of these films. New guides were written for some of the films, and a procedure was developed for observing and recording teacher-pupil interaction in classroom situations. Tape recordings from classes of ten biology teachers were analyzed to investigate the effects of the films and corollary materials on teacher-pupil interaction and on the achievement of the behavioral goals. Points of strength and weakness in the instructional program were identified. (EB)
