Report of the Annual All Ohio Junior High Guidance Conference: Signs of the Seventies. (8th, May 1, 1970).
O'Connor, James R., Ed.
Excepting opening comments, four papers are presented: (1) crisis counseling, which stresses the increasingly crisis-oriented nature of society and the schools, and which suggests guidelines for the counselor who is confronted with the situation; (2) drug abuse, which deals generally with marihuana and its relationship to hard drugs, and states that the prime objective should be to prevent experimental curiosity into the use of hard drugs; (3) student activism, which elaborates on the anatomy of the boycott of South Junior High School, Lima, Ohio, and which lists preparatory and preventive steps for such emergencies; and (4) counselor involvement in change in the junior high school, which discusses the July 1 "wedding" of ESEA - III and NDEA V-A and its implications. The focus is on progress toward a systems approach to career guidance. (TL)
