Data Communications in Business. An Introduction.

This basic text for students in business administration and business education was prepared for personnel of The American Telephone and Telegraph Company with the help of an educational advisory panel. Fundamental concepts of data communications are presented as a means of keeping abreast of the information explosion and as a basis for making sound decisions. Three case studies, supplementary information on transmission equipment, communication services and switching, a glossary, and a bibliography accompany the five chapters of the text which are: (1) The Meaning of Data Processing, (2) The Role of Data Communications, (3) Data Communications in Management, (4) Communications Problems in Information Systems, and (5) Planning a Data Communications System.
