A Follow-Up Study of the Experiences and Reactions of Students in the 1965 Entering Class of the College Discovery Program. Research and Evaluation Unit.
Dispenzieri, Angelo; And Others
Research was conducted to evaluate the effects of the College Discovery Program (a program designed to facilitate higher education for underachieving, financially impoverished high school graduates) on the 1965 class. The report deals with the problem of attrition from the program and the probable effects of the college experience on students. The authors investigated the students' financial sources while in the College Discovery Program and noted the students' reactions, attitudes and perceptions of the overall program. Study habits of the students, peer culture and the students' assessments of the effects of the college experience are also explored. Lastly, the study includes recommendations for program planning and research implications of the findings. (Author/MC)
