Portions of a PSSC physics film showing demonstrations were used in conjunction with a teaching machine program. A lengthy lecture in the second half of the film and most of the explanations and interpretations intermingled with the demonstrations were replaced by conventional printed teaching-machine frames. Comparisons were made of control subjects who viewed the complete film and experimental subjects who used the program. Posttest performance indicated that the program was highly effective. These results demonstrate that it is feasible to incorporate an existing film into a program. (Author)
