The Mexican American.

The purpose of this paper, prepared for the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights, is to indicate the types and ranges of problems facing the Mexican American community and to suggest ways in which these problems are peculiar to Mexican Americans. Specific examples are cited to illustrate major problems and personal experiences. Topics covered in the report are (1) civil rights and the administration of justice, (2) education, (3) employment, (4) public policies and agencies for assisting the Mexican American, and (5) the Mexican American's growing sense of identity. In addition, a brief history of the Mexican American community is presented. (TL)
