Ames Laboratory Selective Dissemination of Information Computer System; A Survey of User Evaluation.
Sage, C. R.; Anderson, R. R.
An evaluation of the Ames Laboratory Selective Dissemination of Information - Computer System based on 40 production runs from February 1965 through February 1966 was made by 31 scientist users. Users' comments about the system were correlated with results of a statistical study for the period. It was shown that users were more satisfied with the operation of the system than the statistical results first indicated. All of the 31 users' comments on performance of the system and their suggestions for improvement are included. The evaluation showed that a current awareness service utilizing low-order document description (limited to titles, authors and sources) operates effectively. Users' comments indicated a desire for retrospective literature searching in addition to the current awareness service now provided. (Author)
