A Handbook for Teachers of English to Non-English Speaking Adults.
In this practical handbook for teachers of English to adult speakers of other languages, the author stresses the TESOL teacher's need to know about various teaching methods and techniques and how to evaluate materials in order to be able to select and develop a style of teaching compatible with the expectations and needs of his students. Such topics as second language learning, variation in teachers and students of English as a second language, TESOL methodology and materials, and evaluation of TESOL materials, students, and teachers are discussed and detailed suggestions are presented for the classroom teacher. A selected bibliography of TESOL materials, prepared by the author for the Bureau of Adult Education of the California State Department of Education, is appended. (AMM)
