Sixty-two school systems with formalized evaluating procedures for administrative and supervisory personnel are individually described in this study. Details of the evaluation procedures include the personnel evaluated, frequency of evaluation, methodology, notification of results, and appeal procedures. Evaluation forms of eight school systems and the questionnaire used in the study are included. Answers to "the purposes for which evaluations have actually have been applied in your school system" are categorized and their frequency noted. The most commonly mentioned areas of evaluation are administration (organizing and managing ability), supervision (instruction and curriculum), relationships, personal qualities, and professional qualities.
