Careers in Special Education.
Council for Exceptional Children, Arlington, VA.
Intended for juniors and seniors in high school, college students who have not made career decisions, and others, the booklet provides information on careers in special education. The kinds of children involved, ways in which they can be helped, professional preparation, job opportunities, and ways to find out more about the field are described for these areas: mental retardation, gifted, behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, visual handicaps, speech and language disorders, and hearing impairment. New frontiers in special education and the challenge of tommorrow are discussed; a directory of 30 nongovernmental and 15 governmental agencies with interests in exceptional children is provided; and preparation programs and financial aid are mentioned.
