A monograph was prepared for junior high school science teachers and curriculum specialists designed to assist them in the development of new instructional patterns that are consonant with changes in science instruction at other school levels and that are modernized to include the new knowledge and theories of science that have come from recent research efforts. The publication is designed to be a part of the Science Manpower series as a companion volume to "Modern Junior High School Science." Areas discussed in this monograph are junior high school identity problems, the importance of science in a modern culture, recommendations for junior high programs, laboratory-centered programs, and evaluation.
