A Study of Conditions and Services in School Libraries in the State of Arizona. A Supplementary Report of the Arizona Library Survey.
Guthrie, Melvin Glenn
The purpose of this study was to determine conditions and services in Arizona's public, private, and parochial school libraries. The data, mostly for the school year 1965/66, were collected on questionaires sent to librarians and school authorities. The survey covers the libraries' organization and administration, physical facilities, services, expenditures, personnel, materials, and district library programs. The study shows substantial diversity in qualitative and quantitative aspects of school libraries in Arizona, but also indicates that there seems to be a general trend in the state toward developing stronger school library programs. Material given in the appendices includes data for public and non-public schools, and the questionnaires and book collection lists used in the survey. (CC)
