A MODIFIED AUDIOLINGUAL APPROACH IS STRESSED, AND SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES ARE SUGGESTED FOR TEACHING CULTURE AND THE LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, AND WRITING SKILLS. CHECKLISTS OF MINIMAL VOCABULARY ITEMS, GRAMMATICAL STRUCTURES, AND CULTURAL TOPICS ARE GIVEN FOR EACH LEVEL.
