Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of the Texas Regional Collaboratives (TRC) professional development program in science teacher renewal and retention. Eighty-five science teachers who were members or former members of the TRC for Excellence in Science Teaching participated in the survey. The characteristics of teachers involved in a sustained TRC professional development program were examined. Why teachers join the TRC program, why they remain in the program for many years, why they leave the program, and factors impacting science teacher renewal are discussed. (KHR)
