| Abstract: | This book is designed to help faculty members and others involved in training teachers to use technology to understand what implementation might look like, to provide a framework or starting point in a lesson or topic, and to encourage faculty members to use intellectual and creative license to make the experience appropriate for the teacher candidates. The book is organized around the four profiles for technology-literate students highlighted in the NETS (National Educational Technology Standards) for Teachers document (i.e., grades PK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12). Section 1 contains chapters on the standards, setting the stage for technology use, general models for implementation, and integrating technology in general education. Section 2 covers integrating technology in professional preparation, including chapters on educational foundations and technology in early childhood, elementary, middle school, and secondary education programs. Section 3 contains chapters on student teaching/internship and first-year teaching profiles, as well as assessment. Appendices include the NETS for Teachers, content area standards, sample rubrics, sample software and Web site evaluation forms, a list of resources, and a glossary of educational terms. (MES) |
