Abstract:This workbook-style text is intended to introduce the Puerto Rican child and Spanish speaking children generally to the history, geography, customs and traditions of Puerto Rico. The introduction in the form of a teacher's guide provides objectives, suggested procedures, and additional activities. The student portion of the text is divided into four sections: (1) Geography and History; (2) Festivals and Traditions; (3) Views of My Land; and; (4) Puerto Ricans in New York. Each page of text contains a short piece in verse or prose and a few comprehension questions with spaces for writing the answers. Opposite each of these pages is a full-page, pen-and-ink illustration suitable for coloring. (AMH)
