This publication is the student handbook for a BSCS energy education module designed for high school, college, and adult students. It is designed to provide students with information about energy that will help them make decisions as citizens. Basically, this document is a text to supplement the activities and lesson plans in the teacher's guide. Chapter titles are: (1) Getting Started; (2) Identifying and Researching Energy Questions; (3) Techniques for Gathering Information; (4) Analyzing and Interpreting Data; (5) Energy Resources; (6) Energy Uses; (7) Physical Laws; (8) Politics and the Law; (9) Environmental Impact; (10) Economics: Public and Private; (11) Attitudes and Feelings; (12) Health and Safety; (13) Design and Technology; (14) Valuing and Decision Making; and (15) Possible Energy Futures. Most of the pictures and illustrations are black and white. Some sections provide remedial or review information such as a section on simple calculations with large numbers in scientific form. (MR)
