Abstract:This book is a guide especially for developing nations to assist governments in the process of educational change. Science and technology are vital elements of development and future growth. Large scale investments in science education have been a priority for the last 30 years in developing nations. This book describes how best to plan investment in science at the secondary school level. The program presented is based on a five-year research program that was conducted at the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP). This reports provides insight into the different methods of science education in different countries and examines the main issues identified in planning and implementing science education policy. The report also emphasizes the need to improve the information base for the regular monitoring of science education. (YDS)
