In the early 1990s, efforts were initiated to help countries move toward a solution of the global pollution problem. Technology education classrooms and laboratories are among the best places for bring the concepts of recycling/reuse and waste management to students' attention. Important concepts about pollution, waste prevention, and recycling can be taught as stand-alone units or dovetailed into units on construction, manufacturing, energy, and transportation. Technology teachers can obtain a wealth of information about recycling, waste management, and environmental education from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the International Technology Education Association; and the Internet.
