This brochure is a response to numerous questions that have been directed to the Superintendent of Public Instruction's Office since the passage of Chapter 441, Laws of 1985, (SSB 3279, the "Home Based Instruction" law). The following information is presented: (1) responses to questions relating to Chapter 28A.27 RCW (compulsory attendance and home-based instruction); (2) responses to questions relating to RCW 28A.02.201 (approved private schools: extension programs in home-based instruction); (3) responses to questions relating to RCW 28A.41.140 (part-time attendance in the public schools); (4) tables on parents (qualifications and duties), private school extension programs, common schools; (5) registration format (declaration of intent to provide home-based instruction); and (6) standardized tests approved by the State Board of Education for home-based instruction.
