This learning module, which is intended for use in in-service training for vocational rehabilitation counselors, deals with methods and procedures for eliminating or reducing client behavioral problems that may be interfering with the vocational rehabilitation process. The following topics are covered: ways of blocking or changing environments (including the use of restraints); extinction; reinforcement to reduce behaviors (differential reinforcement of incompatible response [DRI], differential reinforcement of other behaviors [DRO], and differential reinforcement of low rates of behavior [DRL]); punishment (time out, overcorrection, response cost, and satiation); and ethics.
