This article presents an interview with South Asian children's book and young adult fiction writer, Uma Krishnaswami. In this interview, Krishnaswami discusses her beginnings and influences as a writer; her views of today's children's book publishing market; her writing style and approach, especially as she changes from writing picture books to young adult novels; the verbal/visual art collaborative process in writing picture books; where her ideas come from; and her editing and revision process.
