In this article, the author presents "Fresh Wood", a book that features award-winning student furniture projects. Woodworking teachers use the new book to get students inspired and motivated to excel with their own woodworking projects. The book features the impressive work of more than 40 high school and college students who submitted projects for judging by industry professionals as part of the Student Design Contest of the AWFS[R]Fair, a biennial trade show sponsored by the Association for Woodworking and Furniture Suppliers (AWFS). The book is a collaborative effort between WoodLINKS USA and the AWFS. Proceeds from the sales of the book benefit WoodLINKS USA, an organization that supports woodworking education by bringing together local industry and schools. "Fresh Wood" demonstrates what is possible if teachers, schools, and industry work together.
