Women, Access and Progression: An Examination of Women's Reasons for Not Continuing in Higher Education Following the Completion of the Certificate in Women's Studies.
Heenan, Deirdre
Studies in Continuing Education, v24 n1 p39-55 May 2002
Interviews with 10 women who did not continue on to higher education following the successful completion of an access course identified three obstacles: caregiving responsibilities, financial constraints, and lack of career advice. Their experiences suggest that attempts to widen access to higher education must take account of the broader inequalities faced by women. (Contains 42 references.) (SK)
