This project aims to change corrupt mindsets in my community. Working on this project has enhanced my ability to lead my community by example, to employ a pragmatic approach, to demonstrate my teaching skills, and to assert my commitment to pedagogy. This project introduces correct Islamic teachings that can deal with religiously infused violence. A four-week educational program, held between July 5, 2013 and July 28, 2013 carried out this agenda. There were three components to the program: "Jumu'ah Khutbah" session; "Jumu'ah Khutbah" discussion session; and weekend program. The pupils enrolled in this program were required to pay particular attention to the Jumu'ah Khutbah, and to fully engage in class discussions. Attentive listening to the "Jumu'ah Khutbah" and active participation in class activities were crucial to successful completion of the program. During this program, I taught the pupils selected verses from the Holy Qur'ân, including exposure to a variety of Qur'ânic translations. I taught them selected ahâdîth that are relevant to the subject, and I discussed with them fatwâs of prominent Muslim clerics regarding extremism and suicide bombings. I presented a survey to both the pupils and their parents--one before and one after the program. I analyzed both surveys and determined the value of the project. I honored the pupils who completed the program by issuing them certificates of completion and grants of "Hajj" measuring the merit of their performance.
