Computer Cache. Environmental Protection: Websites on the Environment
Byerly, Greg; Brodie, Carolyn S.
School Library Media Activities Monthly, v21 n7 p30-31, 42 Mar 2005
"Give a hoot, don't pollute!" "Save the environment!" "Save the Whales!" Ranger Rick. Recycle. These are all well-known phrases and emblems of the fight to "protect the environment." Young children seem to understand almost intuitively the need to do those simple things that will make the Earth a better place to live and play. However, especially as they grow older, children need to be reminded of their role and the role of society in ensuring that the environment is protected, now and for the future. This article suggests some websites on the environment that can be used with and/or by children. These websites are diverse and cover a variety of environment-related topics. Most of the selected sites also can be used to find additional resources on a topic.
