Alaska Native Land Claims. Teacher's Guide to Accompany Textbook.
Hays, Lydia L.
Designed to be used in conjunction with a student workbook accompanying the secondary textbook, "Alaska Native Land Claims", this teacher's guide focuses upon specified learner outcomes and presents a variety of approaches to achieve them. Like the student workbook, this guide presents 39 individual lessons which parallel the subtitles of the 9 chapters in the text. Using a basic format, the lessons include: statement of goals and objectives; suggestions for instruction; current events; summary; evaluation; and unit review. Also included in this guide are: a brief section on course pre-planning (helpful suggestions); six suggestions for semester projects; the cognitive and affective learning goals for the textbook; a resource list presented by units (bibliography and audiovisuals); and appendices (treaties, quotations from American History, documentation of the Federal statutes and other decisions relative to Alaska Native claims to Alaska land, testimonies from land claims hearings, the controls and responsibilities of regional business corporations, a land claims settlement game, a listing of regional non-profit information resources, addresses of periodical publications, addresses for general reference, examples of the tools used for corporation financial accountability, and excerpts from "A Whale for the Killing").
