Making the Most of a Teaching Partner
Hamilton, Boni
Reading Teacher, v63 n3 p245-248 Nov 2009
Teachers often miss opportunities to use their classroom computers as teaching partners because of a lack of knowledge or confidence about how the computers can support learning. Internet-connected computers can enable teachers to access well-designed websites that support literacy instruction and involve students in interactive responses to reinforce literacy skills. This article annotates six websites that elementary teachers can use with students as independent centers. The article also includes practical examples of how teachers have used the websites with their students. Although most websites require few technical skills, one site is geared for the more adventurous technology user.
