Program Planning and the Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Instructional Technologies: A Case Study in Planning Continuing Education Services.
Lent, Richard M.
This report provides a description of the conceptualization and methods required to perform a cost effectiveness analysis in the field of instructional technology. The case study discussed involves a cost effectiveness comparison of four alternative systems for delivering continuing education instruction in management to several geographically separate sites. The alternative instructional delivery systems considered were: (1) live lecture, (2) interactive instructional television, (3) mediated self instruction, and (4) guided independent study. Findings are summarized in a cost effectiveness comparison matrix which compares the four methods across multiple criteria. A wealth of raw data on the four methods is also provided. (STS)
