Pricer, Wayne F.
Community College Enterprise, v17 n1 p41-50 Spr 2011
In this second installment of a two-part feature on immersive education a webliography will provide resources discussing the use of various types of computer simulations including: (a) augmented reality, (b) virtual reality programs, (c) gaming resources for teaching with technology, (d) virtual reality lab resources, (e) virtual reality standards and assessment resources, and (f) 3D virtual world resources. These collected resources help examine the many interrelated questions concerning immersive education such as: What is immersive education? What technologies are currently available to help students learn through the use of computer simulations? What are the advantages of using these technologies? How is the technology being used to provide learning opportunities for students? How can institutions leverage these technologies? How will these technologies affect student learning? What techniques are educators using to train students with these technologies? What strategies and best practices can be used to facilitate learning with these technologies? And finally, what standards and training are available for using these technologies?
