Violence prevention groups on college campuses, in schools, and in communities are increasingly aware that violence against women cannot end unless men take an active role in stopping it, and the failure of many men to take the issue of violence against women seriously cannot be overlooked. At the University of South Carolina (USC), collaboration between the Department for Sexual Health, Violence Prevention, and Research (SHVPR) and the Department of Psychology (PSYC) has produced an innovative solution to changing men's apathetic attitudes and engaging them as allies in preventing violence against women. The course "Changing Carolina: Men Can Make a Difference" is a semester-long combination of seminar-style and service-learning opportunities for men. In this article, the authors discuss how "Changing Carolina" has successfully changed students' views on men, violence, and prevention.
