Summary Report of the Title VI-G Network Third Annual Conference. (Minneapolis, Minnesota, December 5-8, 1977).

Presented is the summary report of the Third Annual Conference of the Title VI-G Network which was designed to update learning disability (LD) professionals on pertinent program and education developments, to inform them of future trends and plans, and to offer concrete help in their present work. Introductory sections provide a schedule of the conference as well as a listing of conference participants. Following the text of the keynote address by M. Reynolds are descriptions of sessions covering the following areas: funding, monitoring, and program information from the Bureau of Education for the Handicapped; the new LD research institutes; improvement of communication between special education and regular classroom teachers; the role of the placement committee in the development of the individualized education program; review of four current research efforts; strategies for effective classroom management; remediation of LD at the secondary level; implications of recent federal legislation; special education representatives from state departments of education; evaluation designs; current practices in the assessment of LD children; behavioral approaches to assessment and programing; group process issues and approaches; delivery of special education services in rural areas; improvement in the field of LD; packaging and diffusion of a demonstration project; and helping practitioners locate and use resources. Each session summary includes information on the intended audience, purpose, format, session leader, and a brief description. (SBH)
