Part 1: Getting It Wrong--Slaying Myths about Video Games
Wilson, Lee
Technology & Learning, v28 n2 p16 Sep 2007
There are a very vibrant community of academics, educators, students, and business personalities who agree that video games have a powerful potential for learning and training. There is also a growing number of practice, products, and research to support the notion that video games are a valuable addition to the set of tools teachers are using in for real education. However, there are many real barriers that hinder teachers to incorporate video games into their traditional lessons. One of these are the myths that reinforced widespread negative attitudes towards video games. In this first article of a two-part article, the author discusses the common misconceptions of teachers towards video games. (Contains 8 online resources.)
