Teaching Nutrition to Young Children.
d'Agostino, Micheline; And Others
Children in the Tropics, n166 1987
This guide, which is intended for educators interested in implementing preschool programs in developing nations, aims to sustain the working hypothesis that preschool education can be organized entirely around the themes of health and nutrition. Part 1 presents an approach to program development and discusses characteristics and use of the guide. Part 2, the preponderant section, delineates three suggested activities programs which center around: (1) children's diet; (2) child growth; and (3) water in children's lives. The description of each program provides an inventory of problems involving diet and growth, objectives and criteria for evaluation, and specific objectives and activities. Appended are a plan for establishing a program; information about food, diet at various ages, growth, and water. (RH)
