The Dynamic Nature of Leisure Experience: An Application of Affect Control Theory.
Lee, BongKoo; Shafer, C. Scott
Journal of Leisure Research, v34 n3 p290-310 2002
Applied Affect Control Theory (ACT) to investigate the interaction process between leisure participants and their environment. Surveys of people on an urban, multiple-use trail indicated that most exhibited a dynamic emotional experience even though they were in the setting a short time. Respondents exhibited different emotions across events. Results suggest that ACT has the potential to help explain how an interaction process in recreation creates a dynamic experience. (SM)
