The Impact of Academic Success Stories on the Effectiveness of the Campus Tour
Damron, Terry Stringer
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
The campus tour is one of the most effective recruitment tools for higher education institutions, impacting prospective students' perceptions of college choice decision criteria, including academic quality. This study examined the impact of sharing academic success stories during the tour on prospective students' perceptions of academic quality, speed of submission of the application for admission, and matriculation status. Tour guides delivered control and experimental tours, with the latter including academic success stories. A survey was administered after the tour, assessing participants' perceptions of academic quality. Matriculation status and time between tour and application submission were collected through admissions records. Results indicated the sharing of academic success stories did not have a statistically significant positive impact on campus tour effectiveness.
