Effects of Short-Term Isokinetic Training on Standing Long-Jump Performance in Untrained Men.

Evaluated the effects of a brief isokinetic training program on quadriceps and hamstring peak torque (PT) and standing long-jump performance. Tests on 12 untrained men indicated that the brief training program was at least as effective in improving quadriceps isokinetic (but not hamstring) PT. PT gains subsequent to isokinetic resistance training did not influence functional jumping performance. (SM)
