Brain Stretchers, Book 1.
Anderson, Carolyn; Haller, Jackie
This collection of activities is designed to help students develop critical thinking skills. The activities are non-graded and can be used from upper elementary to high school. Reading levels vary from no reading required to very little reading required and can be used effectively with students who are poor readers, bilingual, or at a special education level. These brain stretchers are effective tools that can be used to assist teachers in the individualization process, encourage independent work, foster motivation, and provide enrichment. The activities are organized in three sections: (1) Patterns; (2) Logic; and (3) Puzzles. Seven stretchers are provided in the pattern recognition section and use topics such as number sequences and magic squares. The logic section provides six activities that involve number and word concepts. The puzzle section includes seven geometric, maze, and line puzzles. Answer keys are included. (DDR)
