National Field Research Center Inc., Iowa City, IA.
This report represents a detailed summation of existing workforce levels, training programs, career potential, and staffing level projections through 1981 for EPA Region VI. This region serves the Gulf fringe states of Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. The specific pollution programs considered include air, noise, pesticides, potable water, radiation, solid waste, and wastewater. Additionally, a section overviewing current activities in energy as it relates to pollution control and abatement is included. The content of each section is limited to the control authority which EPA possesses. The study was undertaken to provide a strategy for supporting and implementing environmental education and career training programs based on needs and growth trends evidenced by the initial workforce assessment. A selected bibliography is included for reference. (CS)
