Florida Studies in the Helping Professions. University of Florida Monographs Social Sciences--No. 37.
Combs, Arthur W.; And Others
The monograph presents principles governing the nature and effective practice of helping professions. It is presented in three parts: (1) background of the studies and evaluation of the hypothesis, (2) research reports completed to date, (3) interpretation of the research and future directions. The research deals with perceptual organization of effective counselors, teachers, episcopal pastors, person-oriented and task-oriented student nurses and college teachers. The report concludes that the perceptual approach provides greater understanding of professionals, but the major difficulty lies in measurement techniques of perceptual psychology. (Author/MC)
