Oregon Agriculture II Curriculum Guide.

Developed as a guide for use by vocational agricultural teachers in preparing curriculum to meet local community/regional needs, this package provides materials for a course on production agriculture and agribusiness occupations. The purpose of the course is to provide 10th grade students with fundamental concepts and skills necessary to explore agricultural occupations, develop job skills, and refine career choices. Supplementary materials include early planning considerations (required and optional materials to be ordered and their sources). Fourteen units are included in this curriculum: orientation, fencing, soils, animal nutrition, public speaking, record books, parliamentary procedure, advanced ferrous welding, preventive maintenance, cereal and forage crops, horticulture, livestock skills, livestock selection review (option unit) and horses and horsemanship (option unit). The orientation unit contains a calendar for the course. Each unit may include some or all of the following components: instructor's guide (unit goal, source of materials, available resource materials, and teaching suggestions), list of unit objectives, student activities, list of teaching aids, suggestions for interest approach, list of references, terms and definitions, teaching outline, informative material, narrative for transparencies, transparency masters, handouts, instructor's manual for slide sets, assignment sheets, answers to assignment sheets, sample quizzes and/or unit tests, and answer keys.
