Webcam Stories
Clidas, Jeanne
Science and Children, v49 n3 p27-31 Nov 2011
Stories, steeped in science content and full of specific information, can be brought into schools and homes through the power of live video streaming. Video streaming refers to the process of viewing video over the internet. These videos may be live (webcam feeds) or recorded. These stories are engaging and inspiring. They offer opportunities to observe, learn, and question. Most important, they connect children to the stories of the natural world. Students watch science narratives unfold in real time on the internet. Students collect, sort, analyze, and digest the information, and then they create a story based on their prior knowledge and their focus as they watch. (Contains 14 online resources.)
