The Effect of Tech Prep on Students' Speed toward Graduation
Sweat, Jewell; Fenster, Mark
Techniques: Connecting Education and Careers, v81 n2 p52-53 Feb 2006
The purpose of this study was to determine if a tech prep program of study better prepared a student for success in Georgia's technical colleges. In this study, three hypotheses, which included high-school preparation, academic performance, and faster graduation of tech prep and non-tech prep students, were analyzed. Therefore, the main focus of this study was to examine if tech prep students were better prepared upon entering Georgia's technical colleges, performed at a higher academic level, and completed their studies faster than non-tech prep students. Based on the data analyzed in this study, the authors found that tech prep students have essentially the same assessment scores before beginning their study in the technical colleges, and finished their technical college studies with about the same GPAs as those not involved with tech prep.
