GMHDIF: A Computer Program for Detecting DIF in Dichotomous and Polytomous Items Using Generalized Mantel-Haenszel Statistics
Fidalgo, Angel M.
Applied Psychological Measurement, v35 n3 p247-249 May 2011
Mantel-Haenszel (MH) methods constitute one of the most popular nonparametric differential item functioning (DIF) detection procedures. GMHDIF has been developed to provide an easy-to-use program for conducting DIF analyses. Some of the advantages of this program are that (a) it performs two-stage DIF analyses in multiple groups simultaneously; (b) if the H[subscript 0] is rejected, it performs pairwise comparisons; and (c) it can be used for DIF detection in dichotomously scored items, nominal-polytomous items, and ordinal-polytomous items. GMHDIF has been developed in Visual Basic and runs on any Windows operating system. The GMHDIF program, its user guide, and examples of input and output files can be obtained free of charge by e-mailing the author at fidalgo@uniovi.es.
