Examined suicide in combat and noncombat Israeli units by duration of service and by preservice psychiatric, medical, and motivational data from 1974-85. Suicide population among combat and noncombat soldiers did not differ from nonsuicide population along induction criteria variables. Results suggest suicide may have been response to conditions brought about by structure of specific experiences. (Author/ABL)
