Boston Experience.
Hague, Steve
Goals and activities of a four-week photography course which centered around a photographic trip to Boston are described in this curriculum guide. The unit, one of several developed in conjunction with Project Exploration, has the broad goals of promoting--through experiential learning in a variety of environments outside the classroom--the students' self-confidence and ability to work successfully in group activities. Specific objectives for the unit include improving photographic composition techniques, teaching skills necessary for taking successful candid photographs, and using layout and design skills to create a photocollage. A daily schedule outlines class activities; 7 days are spent in preparation for the 1-day field trip to Boston, and 12 days are spent developing field trip photographs and working in groups to prepare a photocollage. Preparation activities include role playing, candid photography at the school site, and developing and inspecting photographs. A schedule is provided for the Boston trip which calls for students to work in small groups and travel by subway to take photographs in a variety of locations. (JH)
