Inexpensive Guitar Stand Project Really Rocks!
Horath, Larry; Horath, Elyse
Tech Directions, v70 n3 p25-26 Oct 2010
Anyone who plays a guitar needs a stand to hold the guitar when he or she is not playing it. A guitar is not an instrument that one can lay down or prop against the wall without risking potentially catastrophic and long-term damage. There are several options in pre-made guitar stands made for single or multiple guitars, but as an alternative that might interest a number of musically inclined students, this article details a simple guitar stand project that students can make themselves. In addition to producing a popular and useful product, the activity teaches planning, drawing and layout, work with various tools, and product assembly and finishing. Also, since the primary material needed is PVC pipe, the project is quite inexpensive. (Contains 1 figure and 1 table.)
