This thesis examines the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of an instructional development project addressing hotel fireguards. Systematic techniques were applied to produce a session to train the appropriate hotel employees to qualify as fireguards. The portion of training represented in this report is the sprinkler module. Formative development techniques refined the session contents and produced encouraging results with members of the target population. The trainees were enabled to pass the standard examination administered by the City of New York. The appendices include content information to be taught, suggested teaching methods, pretests and posttests with answers, final tests, suggestions for trainees taking the fire guard examination, visuals for duplication/display, and a 21-item bibliography.
