Windsurfing Injuries: Added Awareness for Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention.
Rosenbaum, Daryl A.; Dietz, Thomas E.
Physician and Sportsmedicine, v30 n5 p15-16,21-22,24 May 2002
With proper training and safety precautions, windsurfing is relatively safe, but its unique equipment and unpredictable environmental conditions can produce serious injuries. Clinicians may see fall-related ankle injuries, tarsometatarsal injuries, or anterior shoulder dislocations; chronic low-back pain from torso stress; skin lacerations; and sun damage. Physicians must stress safety via proper equipment use, protective gear, and sunscreen. (SM)
