Taylor, Mary Lou, Comp.; Ferguson, Susan E., Comp.; Crapps, Sue T., Comp.
This course manual was designed to address problems of attendance during the summer in a manufacturing company's workplace literacy program. Materials from five workshops are provided, including handouts, exercises, worksheets, and instructor notes. "Communications I" addresses the following: what is communication?; evaluating listening skills; and identifying assumptions. "Communications II" explores verbal and nonverbal communication, conflict resolution, and positive feedback. "Charting Unexplored Territory--Discovering How Your Mind Works" is a workshop on learning and thinking styles. "If Life Is an Attitude, How's Yours? And What Are You Going to Do about It?" develops awareness of self-esteem and positive self-image. "Stress: Is It the Spice of Life?" focuses on what is causing stress and how to manage it. An appendix contains additional handouts. (SK)
